The American Red Cross New York State Preparedness Corps is recruiting individuals to serve part-time as AmeriCorps State Members in local chapters of the American Red Cross.

In accordance with the mission of the American Red Cross, AmeriCorps State members serving with our program will focus their efforts on helping individuals and communities prepare for, prevent and respond to disaster situations. Through direct service activities, our AmeriCorps team will seek to increase access to critical preparedness and life saving training, engage communities in volunteer activities and create a culture of preparedness in communities across New York.

AmeriCorps is a part-time service opportunity where members must fully commit to 900 hours of service. In return for service, members are given a small living stipend, and are offered benefits such as basic health care and child care supplement. At the completion of their service, members are provided with an education award of $2,362 for previous or future education of up to seven years.

Coordinates the American Red Cross in Greater New York (ARC/GNY) New York State (NYS) Citizen Preparedness Programs at the regional level. Serves as the Regional Preparedness Liaison for regional and community chapters of the American Red Cross, offices of Emergency Management, and Community Based Organizations (CBO). Develops partnerships with regional and local leadership to strengthen overall citizen preparedness. Develops and implements citizen preparedness initiatives, including recruiting and training volunteers. Coordinates special events and meetings. Position is located in Endicott, NY.
